How the pieces of a credit score fit together

Once you know how a credit score is actually determined, it can help you prioritize what’s the most important aspect of it to maintain. The Financial Post recently published an easy breakdown of it: payment history is 35%, amounts owed are %30. The other rough-third can be broken down by length of credit history (15%), new credit (10%) and type of credit used (10%).
