Collection changes for Canadian businesses

In late November, some changes in the way Canadian businesses can collect debt went into effect. According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, customers can now be contacted through social media in order to receive payment for debts. There are some caveats, though. The company seeking the debt needs to identify itself as a collection agency, and customers need a method to opt out from contact.
